Ride the North 2017 will begin (and end) at Castle Fraser, one of Aberdeenshire’s spectaclar National Trust for Scotland castles. Heading north the provisional route will feature parts of central Aberdeenshire which havent featured on RTN previously – passing through Inverurie, Daviot, Rothienorman and Rothiemay. It’s a rolling day with no major cl;imbs, but little flat until crossing the River Spey on old railway bridge at Garmouth. New for 2017, there will be two options the end of Day One – Elgin at the 81 mile mark or Forres at 95 miles. Elgin will be the better option for splitting the effort more evenly over 2 days, Forres if you prefer to leave 75 rather than 90 miles on Day two.
Health Warning – The route presented here will represent a provisional plan. Ahead of the event we will be working with Local Authorities, local communities and Police Scotland to confirm plans. It is anticipated that the route may be subject to change, but the overall objective will be a level of challenge (distance and hills) which are consistent with what is presented.
