Ellon is an attractive small town that sits on the River Ythan. You should visit the ruins of Ellon Castle as well as the Auld Brig which dates back to 1793. Ellon is also home to the headquarters of Brewdog, which started from a garage in 2007 and has now become a global business with turnover in the hundreds of millions. You can tour the brewery, and enjoy a beer at the tap-room on site. The town is very well placed to offer easy access to great cycling, albeit this corner of Aberdeenshire is less well known to visitors despite some very attractive scenery and pretty nearby villages like Collieston, Udny Green and Tarves. There is parking in the town centre at Market Street, just overlooking the river. You'll find all the facilities you'll need in the town with shops, cafes and hotels.
