Yes, it’s Green!
The Ride the North jersey is issued to all participants. Breaking news is that the new jerseys have arrived and have been stored under armed guard in a secret location for the past month! This year I’ve drafted in a ‘model’ (aka ‘a son’) at the launch event …in my kitchen!
The jersey seems to have become an intrinsic part of the event – I asked in a survey a little while ago if they were still used/valued and answer was fairly clear. So …here we go again! It is issued instead of a goody bag as a memento of your participation …except, we’ve always issued it ahead of the event rather than on completion. Whether you wear it is up to you …hopefully for most it’s a more usable event souvenir than a medal (I don’t seem to wear my 10k medals very often these days)! Naturally, I can’t satisfy all opinions about colour …initial reaction from the half a dozen people to see the jersey so far has been a resounding ‘not as bad as I thought’! Apologies to the ‘Purple lobby’, who did make a very strong case. Maybe next year!
There will be change to the usual plan for jersey distribution. I am going to have a distribution day in Aberdeen on Friday 11 May (0900 1500 hrs). I will also do something similar in Elgin the week after (I’ll email all Moray postcode registrations about that once I’ve set a date).
The majority of jerseys have usually been sent in June, but this year I am going to hang on to them until the start of August, when they will be mailed along with registration packs …so less of them will be sent to people who subsequently withdraw! If you have a good reason to want one before then, contact me!
A huge thank you to Walkers Shortbread, PD&MS Group, Marathon Oil, Stronachs, Roy Cowie, Fulcrum, SureVoIP, John Clark Motor Group, Core Oil & Gas and Stena Drilling for their support.
